Adil Ouassini – THE KO REPORT
May 22, 2026, 8:00 a.m. PT
It took 2 minutes 15 seconds to finish his opponent on Thursday night.
Mikey Musumeci defended his title for the third time fighting against a dangerous opponent with two wins over renowned former UFC champions known for their grappling inside the Octogon (Merab Dvalishvili and Aljamain Sterling). It was a one sided onslaught of leg attacks from the UFCBJJ Champion.
His opponent Kevin Dantzler managed to escape a few leg lock attempts before the heel hook submission came a little after the 2 minute mark in the first round. Mikey brings a relentless style of chaining submission attempts one after another. His opponents are rarely on the attack even when Mikey is playing top.
Mikey’s post-match interview took the audience by surprise as he revealed he was battling a staph-infection on his leg. He was highly medicated on antibiotics and rushed to the hospital after his match. Despite this set back Mikey not only managed to show up and compete, but he competed with dominance and a quick finish in the first round.
What’s next for the UFCBJJ star?
As soon as he recovers, he will fly out to Japan where he will prepare for his mma debut later this year. Mikey is hopeful he can display his jiu jitsu inside the cage in a sanctioned mixed martial arts bout.
But first… pasta and pizza.
