UFC Fight Night 278 Keeps The Welterweight Division Active

The former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad looks to secure his first win after losing his belt to JDM. He takes on a tough and technical opponent Gabriel Bonfim, who is on a four fight win streak in the UFC, having an incredible 19-1 mma record.

Arguably the most active division in the UFC, the welterweight division keeps moving it’s rankings making potential title contenders part of the bigger picture.

This is familiar territory for #5th ranked Belal Muhammad as he headlines his fifth UFC card and hopes to utilize his experience over his opponent on Saturday night. Meanwhile, Gabriel Bonfim looks to break into the top 10 and possibly taking Muhammad’s #5 spot as Bonfim sits at #11 in the welterweight rankings. A lot is on the line Saturday night, will Bonfim be a new contender to the division or will Muhammad solidify his presence by making a statement at UFC Fight Night 278?

The rest of the main card will not disappoint as we see #4 ranked middleweight Brendan Allen take on the veteran Edmen Shahbazyan in the co-main event. Also making to make a statement in the lightweight division the French-Algerian Fares Ziam who is on a six fight win streak looks to extend his winning streak to seven. A win on Saturday night will surely thrust him forward in the rankings and securing his name in the contender conversation.

The outspoken Bryce Mitchell will look to solidify his name amongst the best in the bantamweight division as he did in the featherweight division. Coming off a win against Said Nurmagomedov, and after a few cancelled fights, Mitchell is ready to bounce back and continue his run of success against the formidable Edgar Chairez.

Of course we can’t forget the light heavyweights!

Our night will kick off with a banger that will almost guarantee a the fight will not go the distance. As the heavy hitter Junior Tafa takes on Iwo Baraniewski. This is a bout of who hits harder. You have the Polish power and the dynamite in Tafa’s hands.
