This weekend’s MVP MMA event isn’t just bringing a big-name fight card, it’s stacking the broadcast team too.
With Ronda Rousey taking on Gina Carano in the main event this Saturday at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, the production side is bringing in some serious firepower for the Netflix-exclusive event.
Handling play-by-play duties will be veteran combat sports voice Mauro Ranallo, with former UFC fighter Kenny Florian joining him as color commentator. Sibley Scoles will be working as the roving reporter throughout the night, while longtime combat sports broadcaster Sean Wheelock handles rules and scoring analysis.
The analyst desk is just as loaded.
ESPN’s Elle Duncan will lead the desk coverage, joined by former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley and MMA journalist Ariel Helwani. The guest lineup rotating throughout the event includes Jon Jones, Cain Velasquez, and Cat Zingano.
That’s a pretty stacked panel for a debut event.
The prelims get underway at 6 p.m. ET and will stream free on the MVP YouTube channel, while the main card kicks off at 9 p.m. ET exclusively on Netflix.
Fight week coverage is getting the full treatment as well.
Wednesday’s open workouts will feature Scoles reporting from cageside, with Kody “Big Mo” Mommaerts handling hosting duties ahead of his role as ring announcer on fight night. Those workouts start at 9 p.m. ET on YouTube.
Thursday’s press conference will be hosted by Ariel Helwani and feature the full fight card.
The ceremonial weigh-ins are also getting expanded coverage, with Scoles hosting, Tyron Woodley and Kenny Florian providing analysis, Helwani adding extra reporting, and Cain Velasquez joining for bonus commentary.
Both the press conference and ceremonial weigh-ins are scheduled for 9 p.m. ET on the MVP YouTube channel.
Between the fight card and the broadcast lineup, MVP clearly isn’t going small with this one.
